Kendyl and Friends Foundation is proud to announce, Nicholas ”Alex” Caton, senior at Mercer County Senior High School, as the 2019 recipient of the KFF Special Education Scholarship. This scholarship was founded in 2017 for a high school Senior who plans to major in Special Education.
Alex is the epitome of a top-notch student. He is always prepared, determined, and highly motivated. Throughout his high school career, Alex has always excelled and lettered academically. He received the Kentucky Hight School Athletic Association Academic All-State for baseball as a junior, 2018 Kentucky Youth Salute, and the Mercer County Youth Leadership Award. Alex also chooses to be a Christian leader outside of the classroom while participating in organizations and working. He is a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Youth Group, FCA, Beta Club, and Pep Club. He has been a member of the varsity baseball team since his freshman year of high school. Alex also has juggled the responsibilities of various jobs since 2012: lawn work, Coach Pitch Umpire, CC Auto, Harrodsburg Baptist Church Hoops referee, and a Coach for the Overcomers Baseball league for special needs and disabled children. During this time with the Overcomers, his love for working with disabled children intensified. He used his time wisely to learn more about various disabilities and connect with special needs families. Alex plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University in the Fall of 2019 where he will major in Special Education. There is no doubt that Alex Caton is a true leader and we could not be more proud to honor him with this scholarship! this scholarship! |
